The upcoming release of Visual Studio 2008 is scheduled to contain a fully integrated version of the Dotfuscator Community Edition (CE) Enhanced obfuscation tool. Now PreEmptive Solutions has announced at TechEd that current users of Visual Studio 2003 or 2005 can immediately download the integrated Dotfuscator CE version for free. Until now, the CE version ran as a separate application.
"Microsoft is pleased to see Dotfuscator Community Edition's enhanced integration with Visual Studio," said Prashant Sridharan, senior product manager for Visual Studio at Microsoft Corp. "Dotfuscator Community Edition helps developers protect their deployed applications from reverse engineering."
By running CE from within Visual Studio, developers can easily configure what level of obfuscation to apply, or which methods to ignore or include. Running within the IDE will also simplify the build processes and provide automatically resolution of dependencies. These features were previously only available in the professional version. The enhanced upgrade is available for download now from www.preemptive.com/enhanced.html.
