Green Hills Introduces EC++ Compiler

Green Hills Software has announced a new C++ compiler that includes an implementation of Embedded C++ (EC++), a subset of C++ optimized for embedded applications with limited resources. The new EC++ compiler, implemented as a user option within the C++ compiler’s broader framework, achieves improvements in code size and runtime efficiency over full-blown C++, particularly for applications containing I/O of any kind.

Green Hills’ C++/EC++ compiler is compatible with the draft specification produced by the EC++ Technical Committee. The compiler will initially be available for Motorola 68K and PowerPC family processors. The compiler will also produce native code for workstations running Solaris 2.5. Development host options include PCs and workstations running Windows NT, Windows 95, Solaris 2.5, and HP/UX 10.0.

For pricing and other information, contact Green Hills Software Inc., 800.789.9695 or 805.965.6044; fax 805.965.6343; [email protected]; www.ghs.com.

Secant Unveils Persistent Object Manager

Secant Technologies has announced the Secant Persistent Object Manager (POM), an object-management toolset for building true object-oriented, client-server applications. It features mapping services that allow relational, ISAM, and stream-oriented datastores to be integrated into an application’s object model. POM supports object-oriented databases, allowing the integration of legacy databases into object-oriented environments, and provides a means to migrate existing client/server systems to object-oriented databases.

An integral component, the Metadata Compiler, compiles an object-oriented schema, including all database mappings, to a working C++ object model. The C++ object model includes all the code necessary to manage object storage to a database.

For pricing and other information, contact Secant Technologies, 888.473.2268 or 216.595.3830; fax 216.595.0199; [email protected]; www.secant.com.

XVT Announces XVT-DSI

XVT Software Inc. has begun shipping the XVT Development Solution for the Internet (XVT-DSI). XVT-DSI uses an application browser technology that allows users to access and run any type of application across the Internet, while still maintaining the client machine’s look-and-feel and performance.

At the core of XVT-DSI is a transmitter/receiver technology that packetizes pertinent GUI-related events and data. To further optimize performance, XVT has encapsulated each windowing systems’ event model and normalized each subsystem. Therefore, XVT-DSI sends very little data across the Internet to XVT NetLink. If users need applications to run in a traditional GUI environment, they can do so by relinking to XVT’s DSC or DSC++ GUI libraries.

For pricing and other information, contact XVT Software Inc., 800.678.7988 or 303.443.4223; fax 303.443.0969; [email protected]; www.xvt.com.
